THE AOT FILTER IS A BRAND NEW TECHNOLOGY DEVEOLOPED BY WALLENIUS AND BOLL & KIRCH FILTERBAU
The AOT Filter offers the mechanical filtering and biological and chemical decomposition of pollutants in the water, without adding chemicals. The AOT Filter is a superb combination of three water purification methods:
•A 50 micron high-quality filter from Boll & Kirch Filterbau
•An advanced oxidation technology - Wallenius AOT
•A disinfecting UV light
Intelligent and adaptable
The combination of self-cleaning filters and an advanced oxidation technique enables the level of purification to be adapted to the problem. If the problem is exclusively particulate in nature, only the benefits offered by the filter need be used. If the problem is biological or chemical, the advanced oxidation technique can be brought into play. The degree of oxidation effect is adjustable and can be customised in accordance with the degree of pollution, flow and turbidity.
Energy- and cost-efficient solution
•Three water purification methods in one single installation - substantial savings in terms of both installation and operation.
•The AOT Filter has a small footprint and can be modularly installed in new or existing systems.
•An optional booster pack can also be supplied for very challenging water conditions.
•An optional cleaning in place installation for the AOT unit is available to simplify operation.
•The product is backed by worldwide sales and service organisations.
Tested and approved - a multiple prize winner
Wallenius AOT, the advanced oxidation technology, demonstrated a 99.999% (log 5) reduction in Legionella pneumophila in tests carried out by the Vitens Laboratories in Holland. Wallenius AOT also effectively reduces other biological pollutants, such as viruses and fungi. The AOT Filter combination approach also minimises not only chemical compounds such as bound chlorine and pharmaceutical residues, but unpleasant smells, too. Wallenius AOT has been an integral part of the prize-winning ballast water treatment system, PureBallast, since 2004. This is the first chemical-free ballast water treatment product to have been approved by the UN body, the IMO, as a solution to the problem of invasive species in foreign waters. The ballast water treatment system has received awards from the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), Seatrade and Sustainable Shipping, amongst others.

As illustrated above, it is seen that the AOT technology combined with the Filter expertise, creates the new technology, where the catalytic surface also functions as a mechanical filter.

Illustrated in a more graphical way, we can see the AOT technology covering a Biological Barrier and a Chemical barrier.
Biological Barrier

With the introduction of the Mechanical Barrier from the Filter technology, there is now on integrated tehcnology to remove larger organisms from the inlet water.
