Compact Sensor and DIN Rail

The small, robust and stable Compact Sensor from EIT is highly resistant to solarization. The sensors have sealed optics to prevent fouling and an optional air/nitrogen purge to keep the sensor clean and cool. The sensors connect to all of EIT’s online monitoring electronics. A 0-10V signal output is generated for each Compact Sensor. These output signals can be interfaced to a PLC or other control system. Available in a choice of several UV band widths (A, B, C & V).

The CompactSensor generates a signal proportional to the intensity of UV light impinged on the face of the sensor. This signal is fed via a 10’ shielded cable to one of four display options – EIT’s Multibrite, Online UV Intensity Display Module, DIN Rail Mount UV Intensity Monitor, or Battery-Powered Display Module. When the UV lamps and reflectors are new, the display is set to show a 100% relative intensity. A decrease in the displayed percentage shows the gradual degradation in the UV lamp’s output compared to its output when new. The relative intensity values can be converted to absolute values in watts per square centimeter by comparing the percentage to an intensity reading from an EIT radiometer.

The sensors work with arc (electrode) and microwave (electrodeless) systems equipped with a variety of lamps – mercury vapor and mercury additive lamps.

DIN rail UV intensity moninor

The DIN Rail UV Intensity Monitor, when used in conjunction with EIT CompactSensors, forms an electrooptical system designed to track a single UV lamp. The system consists of a signal conditioning module and a sensor. The module snaps into a DIN type rail, which, in turn, can be mounted on the UV system. Because of the module’s size, many of them can be installed in a small area. The DIN Rail UV Intensity Monitor can be used in integrated monitoring and control systems with analog signal processing and shared display capabilities.

Each module is designed to give the use information regarding the lamp’s relative UV output. The analog output is an industry standard signal compatible with any data acquisition system, integrated control system, or distributed control system.
